Jazz, Blues, Gospel, Ragtime - and put their own twist on it. Songs about murder, betrayal, gambling, liquor and redemption. Are delighted to announce that their popular Sunday jazz jam sessions are returning to Leamington, at The STAR & GARTER 4 – 6 Warwick St. Cv32 5LL 01926 359 960 , opposite the Dell Park, by the Fire Station.

The sad news is that the Sunday Sessions at The Actress & Bishop organised by Dean Bersford and Al Gare have now ceased to be...

Al and Dean would like to thank every musician that has joined them on ‘stage’ at The Actress over the last ten years; all the bands and performers that have stepped-in in their absence; and all the punters that have turned-up to support the gig, drink beer and buy the odd ticket or two for the infamous ‘Shite Raffle’ (that’s what you’ll all miss most really isn’t it?)

UK NATIONAL DRUM FAIR 28 29 SEPTEMBER• Click on the image to download the flyer •

  Hi Everybody!...

Autumn is nearly with us, trust you enjoyed the summer music
that was on offer...

It was a pleasure for me to be at the Food and Jazz festival that took place in a spacious marquee and the surrounding meadow at Brockencote Hall, in Chaddesley Corbett, in, July, with a host of stalls, cookery demonstrations and live entertainment throughout both days.

The other fantastic evening, part of the Birmingham jazz festival, was the Mike Burney benefit gig at The Asylum Club in Birmingham. enjoyed by Mike himself all the performers and a very enthusiastic audience.

The Festival season is by no means over. Britain’s Ace Drummin’ man, John Petters, hosts three exciting residential festivals, featuring the top stars of traditional jazz and swing.

The Festivals are Bracklesham Bay, Sussex, 13-16 Sept. Stratford Upon Avon 16th – 18th November and Mundesley, Norfolk 30th May – 2nd June. Full details www.traditional-jazz.com or call 01406 365 731.

UK National Drum Fair, Europe’s biggest drum Show is on the 28 – 29th September. Stalls selling drum sets, cymbals, hardware etc. There is also a free masterclass in the Annex on both days from some of the top teachers/clinicians, plus performances by several top line drummers and percussionists, the chance to see famous guests who drop in and about.

Southside Big Band and Don Mathers Big Band start off their Autumn programmes in September. The Southside Big Band are putting on a special concert on Sept 11th featuring Georgina Jackson, prior to her performance at The Albert Hall.
